Tiny floorboards are a pain

in the hand. I’m cutting the rounded ends off of popsicle sticks to make floorboards for the dollhouse. For some reason, at some point in my life, I bought a box of 1,000 popsicle sticks. I really feel like I should use them, and I’ve seen some wonderful dollhouse flooring made with them, but man, snipping the ends off gets tiring. I need so many too!

At least I have an Ultimate Easy Cutter which I bought years ago at a miniatures show. It is a huge help and I highly recommend it. It can cut tiny lumber up to 1/2″ thick and at angles of 45 degrees to 135.  I’ve mostly used it for cutting trim and making picture frames until now.

Wow, that sounds like an ad, doesn’t it? It slices, it dices, it even washes the windows! Order now!!! Sorry if it sounds like that, but it is a nifty tool for the mini maker. Still, as easy as the tool makes it, the repetitive snipping takes a toll from forcing the blade down over and over. Also, it is pretty mind numbing. I popped The Hobbit in and I’m sitting here snipping popsicle sticks and watching the movie. I think I’ve gotten 30 done so far. If I get through them all, I might even have enough to use the rounded pieces as tiny roof shingles. We’ll see. It is going to take a while.
