One of my cats drowned my smartphone.
It has been over a week now. With Hubby transitioning into his new job, money is tight, so I’m making do without one. We do have a house phone so it isn’t too big of a deal.
The first few days of not being constantly attached to social media was hard. I couldn’t keep tabs on Facebook all day and I was a little tense. Pretty sick, huh?
I think I miss the camera part the most. My regular digital camera is old and slow and clunky. My phone was with me all the time so I was constantly snapping pictures. Even cruddy cell phone pictures are better than my regular camera. I also really, really miss Instagram. Looking at everyone’s IG pictures online isn’t the same.
I’m getting caught up on my letter or postcard a week goal for this year. I’d really gotten behind. I need to find more people to write to though. I use postcrossing when I start to get overwhelmed with my postcard collection. Hubby brings me a few every time he comes home but they can add up if I don’t stay on top of sending them out.
I’m also reading more. Current book is “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs. The story itself is pretty peculiar. It’s very imaginative and sort of scary and I’m really enjoying it. I went ahead and bought the sequel “Hollow City” so that I can keep following the story.
I love book series because I always want to know what happens next. I was one of the people traumatized when Harry Potter ended. I read the sequel to “Gone With The Wind” which was written by a different author decades later, just because I had to know what might might have happened to Scarlett and Rhett. It is a pretty unbelievable continuation of Scarlett’s story but I sort of disconnected myself from the original and wound up really enjoying it. Don’t tell my mother though. She thinks “Scarlett” is a literary sin. I have not gone on to read “Rhett’s People” though. I was satisfied enough with the ending in “Scarlett”, as weird and wild as it was.
What are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
