I still haven’t been able to find any pallets for my compost pile but I’ve  been making some headway in my quest for self-sufficiency. 

This week I plan to try baking bread for the first time. I’ve made cakes and cookies from scratch before but bread has always intimidated me because it has to rise. We are going through a ton of bread between the two boys and their love of toast and Hagelslag sandwiches so learning to bake my own bread just makes sense. 
In other news we have a new family member. He is a Chihuahua Daschund mix, a chiweenie. He is little but fierce especially when it comes to toes as seen in the picture below:
Having a dog is a new experience for me because I am a cat person. Thankfully the two kittens are learning to get along with him and they all play and sleep together:

We are working on teaching him not to nip and also to go potty outside which is not as easy as I thought it would be.  Litter box training cats is much easier.
