Email accounts for 5 year olds is scary stuff

You know the worst part of Halloween? Taking down the decorations and packing them all up.

That’s what I should be doing right now.

Halloween was awesome this year. S turned five a few days before Halloween but we put off celebrating it until then. I managed to snag the retired Thomas train set he wanted on e-bay and he received more trains and sets from his grandparents. We also got a great deal on a tablet. The kid LOVES Angry Birds of all kinds so he is psyched to have his own game system for it. I’m psyched that my phone won’t be clogged with game notifications all the time.

I did set up a gmail account for him for the tablet for signing into games. Quite honestly, it makes me really nervous about privacy and security but I’m trying the best I can to make sure he is safe but can have fun.

So instead of packing up Halloween stuff, I’m Googling kid safety on the internet. Yikes.

Do your kids have their own tablet or phone and if so, how old are they? What steps do you take to keep them safe? Any suggestions?
