This is me

Hey y’all. I’m Sarah K., AKA Sayruh K. Here in the South, Sarah is often pronounced Say-ruh (as in “Sayruh, yer mama is callin’ yew) and K. because I’m one of seemingly a million Sarahs so I’ve gotten used to using the first letter of my last name when introducing myself to avoid confusion.

 I’m a wife, a mama, a cat lady (we currently have 5 but have have up to 11 I think but maybe 12), and a sedentary office worker. I love red wine, books, cats (obviously), Mexican food, Halloween, thrift stores, dark chocolate raspberry truffles, and anything purple and glittery. I dislike getting up early, exercise, kale, monkeys, the color orange, and plucking my eyebrows (although I do pluck them – I just cry while I do it).

I’m 30 something (shh, a lady never tells her age), 4’11 tall, and 172 pounds which means I’m obese. I’d always been a little heavy for my height, but it just added up to curvy and cute. Then I got older, gained more, had babies, GAINED SO MUCH MORE, and now it isn’t cute anymore. It’s unhealthy. I get winded after one flight of stairs and dizzy after two. I’ve seen the doctor and other than being overweight I’m fairly healthy. My blood pressure, cholesterol, etc are A-OK. I need to lose weight though. I don’t have high blood pressure yet, but it runs in my family so I know it will show up eventually if I don’t make some changes NOW. Plus I’m tired of my thighs rubbing together and ruining my cute tights.  I’m also tired of hiding my double chin in pictures like here:

I’m starting this blog to follow my weight loss journey. On Monday 9/12, I’m going to start the Fit Girl’s Guide 28 Day Jumpstart program which is a series of e-books with meal and exercise plans. I plan to document my progress here. If that doesn’t work, or doesn’t work as well as I hope, I’ll try something else and continue blogging about it. I’m also on Instagram here and Twitter here and on My Fitness Pal here. I’m most active on Instagram though. I want to be held accountable so please feel free to follow me. I love meeting new people and hearing other people’s weight loss stories so feel free to say hey. Thanks for reading and following along. P.S. I’ll post my starting weight and measurements on Monday!
